There’s not much that Phil Mickelson does anymore that could be considered surprising.

The newly minted 50-year-old can, and does, do things on the golf course most people wouldn’t even consider thinking about doing. That includes putting it from the fairway, as he did in Sunday’s final round at the Memorial Tournament.

After blasting his drive down the middle of the fairway on the par-4 13th at Muirfield Village, Mickelson was left with just 78 yards. Instead of pulling out a wedge, Mickelson opted for a different approach.

What makes it even more shocking is that, after coming up short of the green with his second-shot putt, Lefty decided to pull out his signature full-swing flop, played to perfection, of course.

Mickelson has made some otherworldly pars in his career, and this one ranks right up there with the rest. Only he would have the courage and creativity to pull it off.
