You’ll always remember your first ace on the PGA Tour … especially when it comes at golf’s unruliest mecca.

A moment six years in the making happened during Round 3 of the WM Phoenix Open when Sam Ryder stepped in the par-3 16th’s tee box with over 20,000 rowdy fans in TPC Scottsdale’s coliseum. Ryder hit a perfect shot 124 yards to the green and the ball kicked directly to the left before dropping in the cup.

It was the first hole-in-one at No. 16 since Francesco Molinari’s in 2015. It was also Ryder’s first Tour ace and No. 16’s 10th ace since the event moved to TPC Scottsdale in 1987.

Fans then showered the hole with beer cans in celebration, causing a nearly 10-minute delay in play to clean up the sea of cans.

Following the ace, the 32-year-old Ryder said on the CBS broadcast that he’s never felt adrenalin like that.

Despite the hole-in-one, Ryder is more than 10 shots behind the leader in quest of his maiden Tour win after 54 holes. But just that one shot is enough to give him a forever moment.
